Review: Fallen Ink (Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs #1) by Carrie Ann Ryan

About FALLEN INK

The Montgomery Ink series continues with a spin-off in Colorado Springs, where a familiar Montgomery finds her place in a new tattoo shop, and in the arms of her best friend.
Adrienne Montgomery is finally living her dreams. She’s opened a tattoo shop with her brother, Shep, and two of her cousins from Denver and she’s ready to take the city by storm with her art—as long as she can handle the pressure. When her new neighbors decide her shop isn’t a great fit for the community, however, she’ll have to lean on the one person she didn’t expect to fall for along the way…her best friend.
Mace Knight takes pride in two things: his art and his daughter. He knows he’s taking a risk by starting over in a new shop with the Montgomerys, but the stakes are even higher when he finds himself wanting Adrienne more than he thought possible.
The two fall fast and hard but they know the rules; they can’t risk their friendship, no matter how hot it is between the sheets and how many people try to stand in their way.

Review:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Fallen ink gets a nomination for my top reads of 2018 because I loved it and I found it refreshing. It was the sixth book in a row where one of the two main characters had a child from a previous marriage/relationship and instead of being bothered by it, I enjoyed it. The kid doesn't appear much though which was a sad thing. I hadn't even realized that the book I was reading had the same plot (at least some part of it) as five other books I had read in the span of 3 days. I liked Adrienne more than I like the average heroine. She had some bad moments, but mostly she was feisty and a backbone. She had some strong moments and in others, she was caring. Mace was a good father. He had some weak moments, but mostly he was trying to do the best for his daughter and Adrienne.

Adrienne and Mace's romance is a little rushed and instant, but that was okay with me. It was a good story and I loved this branch of the Montogomery family. I cannot wait for the other books and novellas to be released. I also liked the plot line with the person who was trying to sabotage MIT and I got invested in Thea and Dimitri's story.
