Ruthless king is the first book in a new dark trilogy by Meghan March. I can’t say much about the plot because pretty much everything is a spoiler. Let's just say that when the king of New Orleans wants something he is going to get it. He is an evil person and he manages to find a way to get Keira without giving her a choice. When you own Mount you have to pay the debt. Keira is a feisty and sassy widow who owns a whiskey-making business. One day Mount appears and proves that her ex-husband owns him money and he is there to collect. Keira doesn't have a choice but to do what he says because Mount is a dangerous man with a lot of power.
The book is mostly told from Keira's point of view. Mount graces us with his thoughts, but not much. I am hoping to fix that in the second book and see what is in his mind. I want to see him fall for Keira. Another thing I am hoping to see in the second book is an even sassier Keira. They have a great chemistry together and they made the book a very enjoyable read. I loved the book. The cliffhanger, in the end, makes me wanna find the author and force her to give me the second book right now. I don't wanna know how the second book will end.
Sometimes I felt like the book was going to cross a line, but it never did. It's much darker than the other books the author has written but she has done a great job and in the end, I had no complaints and problems with it. It's a definite recommendation.
Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure.
