Get It On, the newest standalone in the Man of the Month Series by #1 New York Times bestselling author J. Kenner is LIVE!
Skillful hands. A talented tongue.
Meet Mr. May.
Fate’s been messing with veteran Tyree Johnson. It took his buddies in combat and his wife in a fatal car accident. But he’ll be damned if he’ll let Fate take his beloved bar, The Fix on Sixth.
For years, he’s avoided being Fate’s whipping boy through sheer force of will, and now every bit of his focus is centered on saving his business. Until, that is, the first woman who ever touched his heart walks back into his life—along with a daughter he never knew.
After years of loneliness, Tyree’s not prepared for the way Eva’s sensual curves and sharp wit still capture his heart and rekindle his senses. All he knows is that for the first time in forever, he’s found a passion other than his bar. But one final twist arrives when Fate pits the bar he can’t bear to lose against the woman who’s stolen his heart.
He’s a master at red-hot ecstasy.
**Get It On is part of a binge read series by New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, and #1 International bestselling author of the million copy Stark series, J. Kenner.
Review:
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
I know it's petty, but I immediately disliked the book. Megan who appeared in the first book was mentioned and appeared way too often for my liking and it gave me a sour taste. I still haven't forgiven the author for the whole Megan and Reece situation and it's so recent in my mind. The weird thing is that she appeared out of nowhere. Where was she in the last three books? She wasn't even mentioned and I am supposed to believe that she worked for Tyree? Yeah, not going to happen. And knowing myself, I can safely say that I will hate the next book because it's Megan and Parker's story. I know that the woman didn't do anything wrong and everything was Reece's fault, but I still have bitter thoughts when it comes to Megan, Reece or Jenna. I am still wondering why that woman took him back.
In my previous reviews for the books in the series, I have mentioned that I wanted to read a book where the hero or the heroine won't try to win back the other party during the contest for the man of the month. I am happy to say that my wish was granted in this book. It was the best part of the book for me. The contest for once wasn't in the spotlight and it was refreshing.
Eva and Tyree didn't have a lot of space to get to know each other. Everything happened fast and they acted mostly like they hadn't been separated for 23 years. The reason for their separation became clear early in the book and it was kind of good. I would have liked to see Eli, Elena and the two of them having dinner together and getting to know each other. They are family after all.
Overall the book wasn't too bad or good. It was mediocre. Since the main reason for disliking the book was Megan, I can say that if you don't have a problem with her you will probably enjoy the book.
